Biography

Isabella Franceschini is an Italian freelance documentary photographer and a Lowepro Ambassador. After earning a degree in Economics from the University of Bologna, she completed advanced photography training courses and a master’s in photojournalism in Rome. Since then, photography has become a fundamental part of her life.

Currently focused on long-term projects, Isabella draws inspiration from the social dynamics that shape human experiences and relationships, as well as urgent issues related to environmental sustainability. Her work reflects on the complexities of contemporary society, exploring themes such as youth civic education, marginalized communities, women's inclusion and religion, human rights, public health, and climate change.

She has contributed to a Telethon Foundation campaign on rare genetic diseases and is now focusing on tuberculosis in Senegal with the nonprofit organization STOP TB Italia ODV.

In addition to numerous awards from international organizations, such as the Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award 2024, IPA 2024, ZEKE Award 2024, ISPA Award 2023, 21st Julia Margaret Cameron Award, and the World Report Award Documenting Humanity 2022, Isabella’s images have appeared in major outlets including The Washington Post, Der Spiegel, l'Espresso, la Repubblica, MarieClaire, Vanity Fair, The Royal Photographic Society Journal , Getty Images and more. She has exhibited her projects at Photoville in New York, the Italian Festival of Ethical Photography in Lodi, Fotonostrum in Barcelona, the House of Lucie in Athens, the Bridge Gallery in Cambridge US, as well as in various public spaces and galleries worldwide.
