Japan day was created to encourage and strengthen the relationship between America and Japan. Japan was never formally colonized or ruled by another country. Therefore, there's no specific date to celebrate a declaration of independence and the end of foreign rule.

Japan and the United States have a complex history. The United States entered World War II as a result of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The United States occupied Japan following its defeat, assisting in the reconstruction of its governance. Strong allies were formed over the course of decades.

During World War II, Japanese Americans, including many who were American citizens, were forcibly interned in facilities, which were known as relocation centers.Today, Japan and the United States collaborate on technology, defense, and commerce, despite their difficult history. We hope these relations continue as the global order begins to shift.
